"Phantasma" is an ancient Greek word. One definition of the word is "a mental image or representation of a real object". In a sense it also defines the "photograph" in as much as it is a representation of a real object as well as having the ability to stir images in our minds.

Wayne Root was born in Hartford, Connecticut and living in Carmel, New York, USA. He became interested in photography when in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service in 1970.
